Thanks to Clara Lieu of the YouTube channel Art Prof who coordinated the NYC meetup on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 6:30 PM. Clara suggested creating this NY meetup. Also grateful for Lauryn (Red) Welch for her presence as well!

To build a completely free community for artists in NYC as well as the Boroughs. Staten Island, Long Island and NJ locals are welcome to join as well.

Hi! My name is Amber. I conduct the artist interviews called, Artist Spotlight. These interviews are for everyone at every level of their art journey. I am also open to interviewing artists in other states and countries. What to expect when you participate in the Artist Spotlight Interview: 1. If you are an artist that follows the instagram page, I will eventually contact you in a direct message on Instagram inviting you to interview with me. I will send you a link of the Artist Spotlight Interview Form for you to fill out. 2. In the form I will ask for your email. I will use this email to send you a welcoming note and thanking you for participating. 3. I will email you a link to a temporary Dropbox folder that is just for you. You will be able to share photos of your work that you want displayed on the blog. Send 5 photos of your best work. Photography, Painting, illustrations, Sculptures, Crafts, Screenprints, Collage, etc... 4. Side note: Please let me know if you want to share your email in the interview for art collectors that might want to purchase your art. Otherwise I will not share your email to protect your privacy. 5. After you press submit on the artist interview form you will have the option to edit your answers. 6. You do not have to answer all the questions. Skip the ones you don't like or are not relevant to you. I ask that you answer a minimum of 5 questions. 7. I'll add more info as time goes by. There are many ways to help NYC Art Meetup! Hi! My name is Amber. I am creating this community alone. I am doing this for free. I always wanted to belong to a community of artists, but I have a day job. I make art in my free time and I am slowly building this community too. Since this is a community with zero income, I am limited in what I can do. That means, if someone wants to help out it would have to be volunteer only. I would consider an intern, but I feel interns should be paid and I cannot afford that. If there is a role I need help in, it would have to be with someone that feels passionate about growing this community with me for free. With that said! Here are ways to help: Help moderate the forum. Troll Patrol! With permission, I'll add you to the About section with a bio & links to all your art pages. The forum is under construction and not available yet. Help lead in-person meetups for our members. I'm kind of an introvert... I'll add you to the About section with a bio & links to all your art pages too. Send me an email if you have a cool idea or if you see something that needs to be fixed on the website. Offer a solution! Participate in the forum letting everyone know about free or affordable events in NYC, Brooklyn, Queens, and NJ. Share any art info. As mentioned before, forum is not ready yet. Let me interview you if you are an artist! 😁 You can live anywhere in the world. Donations? Perhaps take care of our website / domain name and give us premium access so we can keep up the site? Let us have a group art show at your cafe? Co-Author the Email Newsletter with me. That way can check for typos and any other human mistakes. Free Memberships and the Forum are not available on the website yet. I am still building it. This is a free meetup membership, online and in-person, no member fees. This is not to gate keep, but to kick out trolls in the comments. Membership provides access to talk in the forum and create forum questions. However, this is project might not happen since I am eating up my free memory on Wix... If you do not want to to be a member, you still have access to read the forum, but you can't create questions or respond to questions. What is the Forum for? 1. Art experiences and questions about using an art supply. 2. Share Your Art! Get feedback like an art class. Critiques must be constructive, not mean, or you lose access to the forum and membership. 3. Announce an art show you're in! 4. Share news about a cool gallery show that may have a free wine and snack bar. 5. Artist resources and affordable art supplies to help others on a budget. 6. News about artsy jobs, grants, etc... 7. Announce a gallery show that needs artists to submit. Ideally for free. 8. Share anything else that is art related.
